Classic but with some innovations
It can be considered a prototype of the classic Les Paul, with the fat and sweet sound that has made this guitar famous in the world. This instrument is inspired by the Les Pauls of the '80s and '90s but with some innovations, like the chambering, a technique that preserves the quality but with a low weight, thanks to some cavities inside the body.
Specifications
First of all we have to say that this Traditional looks great, with its Vintage finish and the perfect assembly of all the components. The body is in mahogany, with an extraordinary Maple top in two pieces and a creamy pickguard. Neck is in mahogany with a single-ply cream binding, a '50s style profile, an adjustable Truss Rod and a 5° angle. The fingerboard is in Rosewood with 22 frets, a 12" radius and trapezoidal inlays. All the frets are perfectly placed. The beautiful and classic headstock has a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and Kluson-style tuners, with a 16:1 tuning ratio.
The bridge is an excellent Nashville Tune-O-Matic.
Electronics
It comes with two humbuckers. The neck pickup is a '57 Classic, while the bridge pickup is a '57 Classic Plus. They have been designed to recreate the sound of the original PAF humbuckers. The neck pickup produces a warm and rich tone with a great definition of every note, while the bridge pickup delivers an open, clear and aggressive tone.
4 potentiometers for volume and tone. 300k for the volume knob and 500k for the tone knob.
Options
9 available nitrocellulose finishes.
General opinion
The beautiful look and the excellent finish are only a portion of the Traditional qualities. This Gibson masterpiece sounds great and turns out really flexible, thanks to the great quality of the two pickups.
My personal opinion is that the price is absolutely justified..
