A great quality Dreadnought

Taylor is an American company that for years has accustomed us to high quality products, both for the constructive quality and for the acoustic yield. The main characteristic of the 400 Series consists in the quality wood for bands and bottom.

Woods

The wood in question, of African origin, is the Ovangkol, already used in order to produce classical guitars, both in European and Mexican productions. As regards the acoustic yield, the Ovangkol introduces tonal characteristics similar to those of the Indian Rosewood. The body is realized with a Sitka Spruce harmonic plan, not of great quality, above all the grains, truly little attractive. The bands and the bottom, like said previously, are in Ovangkol, while the tailpiece is in Ebony and the neck in Mahogany. The keyboard is in Ebony with mother-of-pearl inserts, while frets are of standard size.

Assemblage and Specifications

As regards the construction and the assemblage the results are absolutely impeccable. I always admire the cleansing of the gluing zones and the general assemblage, always perfect and without imperfections. The machine heads are Grover, sealed, much accurate in the regulation. The harmonic plan painting is glossy, while the body and the neck are satin. An excellent work.

Much volume

A bright sound, an excellent volume and harmonics in profusion. Obviously, a so situation, requires a thick plectrum, possibly of turtle. The Ovangkol of the bands and the bottom tends to exalt mainly the middle frequencies, making the 410 much suited to rhythmic, thanks to the compact and particularly expressive tone. Basses are beautiful, with a natural reverberation and a great presence. The keyboard turns out truly excellent, fast and fluent, flat on the center and smoothed by the sides. Frets are well reamed and assembled, and allow an high speed of the fingers on the keyboard.

A good impression

If we then consider that it is entirely realized in solid wood and with a beautiful professional rigid case, much light, the price turns out valid.

Features and specifications

Quality woods, a beautiful finish, a perfect assemblage and, above all, a great sound. The comfortable body features solid Sitka Spruce for the top and Ovangkol, always solid, for back and sides. Tropical American Mahogany for the neck, that features an adjustable truss-rod. Ebony for fretboard and bridge. The excellent and fluent fretboard provides 20 frets, with large pearl dots. Binding is white. The remarkable finish is satin with gloss top. An excellent job. Really beautiful. It includes an Hardshall case.

Electronics

The Expression System makes an excellent job. This system is really capable to capture the quality and pleasant sound of the 412ce that, thanks to this system and its dynamic sensors, is perfect for studio or stage, too.

Perfect for the Fingerstyle

The solid Sitka Spruce top produces a warm and full-bodied tone, while Ovangkol for back and sides makes the sound rather brilliant. Every note is clearly audible and definite. Fingerstyle is the natural context, but not only.

General opinion

Like always, a great instrument for who wants to spend a rather important money quantity. It is not cheap, obviously, but cannot disappoint.

Electronics

It comes with the Taylor Expression System. It has been designed to reproduce the native tone of the instrument, thanks to particular dynamic sensors. The result is excellent. Sensors capture top and string vibrations and the onboard equalization system lets you control the amplified sound as you need. Really a good job.

A powerful and pleasant tone

The GS body is well-known for its deep lows, the excellent natural volume and the balanced sound, with rich mids, clear highs and an ample dynamic range. A powerful and pleasant tone.

General opinion

Really great. A beautiful finish, excellent woods but, above all, an incredible tone. The price is justified.
