Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer Reissue Effects Pedal : Review

TS808 Tube Screamer Reissue

A legend

Today we speak about the reissue of a very famous Ibanez Overdrive. Let's say immediatly that this pedal is rather valid. It can be a good solution if your amp is a bit cold and without soul.

Controls

  • Overdrive
  • It produces a warm and creamy distortion, much similar to that obtained with the tubes.

  • Tone
  • Obviously, the equalization. It works mainly on the treble.

  • Level
  • The volume. Be careful, only the effect, not the original signal. This means that for the best balance between the effect and the original signal, you have to regulate both the guitar volume and this control.

Sound

Warm and natural, and, like the original model, perfect for Blues, Country or Rock. In these contexts it will not disappoint you. Do you remember the Steve Ray Vaughan sound? Well. Send it in a good all-tube amp and you will obtain something similar. Yes. The result is not just like the original version, a real masterpiece, but something similar. Obviously, if you are looking for a pedal for Metal, the TS808 is not for you.
Like i said at the beginning of this review, this Overdrive can produce a warm and pleasant tone. But remember that, to really appreciate it, you need a tube amp. With a solid-state it is absolutely useless. This is my opinion.
