Fast and easy as a stompbox
It has been designed to be fast, in the use, like a pedal. Every parameter owns its dedicated knob and settings are easy and fast.
COSM Amp Technology and EZ TONE
It shares with the GT-10, the flagship of the Boss floorboards, the COSM Amp technology and the EZ TONE, a graphical system to edit, quickly and easily, an effect, with no knowledge of parameters.
Batteries or AC adaptor
It can work with an AC Adaptor (PSA-120, optional) or with six batteries.
All is immediately accessible.
The image below shows clearly which has been the main aim of the engineers of the Japanese company. Every control or parameter is equipped with a dedicated knob. The workflow is, substantially, immediate. Now we can see the list of the available effects.
PREAMP
The Type knob is, substantially, the speaker emulator. Let's see which are the available options.
- R-FIER
The Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier.
- LEAD STK
High-gain.
- STACK
The typical Marshall sound of the '70s.
- TWEED
In the '50s Fender designed the Bassman, at the beginning developed for the Precision Bass. Subsequently, in the '60s, it produced a new version, all-tube, 50 Watts, 4x10. It became very famous among guitarists for its sound, much suitable to Blues or classic Rock. In the '90s Fender released a reissue of the Bassman, but it's not the same thing of the original model.
- COMBO
It emulates a Vox combo.
- CLEAN
Clean and warm.
- EQ
A parametric equalizer.
- OFF
It deactivates the speaker emulator.
Reverb
The ME-70 puts two Reverbs at the user disposal: Room and Hall.
Delay
- PHRASE LOOP
It is, substantially, a looper that can record an audio up to 38 seconds.
- TAP
The time can be adjusted in real-time.
- MOMENTARY
It is active only when the dedicated pedal is pressed.
- CHO + DELAY
The parameters of the Chorus cannot be changed.
- REVERSE
A classic. Repetitions are played backwards.
- MODULATE
It adds a Chorus to the repetitions.
- ANALOG
The emulation of an analog Delay.
- 1-99ms, 100-990ms, 1000-6000ms
Various lengths for a general use.
Modulation
- OCTAVE
It adds a lower octave.
- HARMONIST
It doubles the entire guitar sound.
- UNI-V
The emulation of a very famous pedal of the '60s.
- FLANGER, PHASER, VIBRATO, TREMOLO, ROTARY, DELAY and CHORUS
Some typical guitar effects.
OD/DS (Overdrive/Distortion)
- FUZZ
It produces a very hard sound.
- CORE
There is a sort of limiter on the mids.
- METAL
This effect adds mids.
- MODERN
High-gain.
- CLASSIC
It reproduces a Vintage amp.
- DIST
It provides a remarkable sustain.
- BLUES
An Overdrive.
- OD-1
The emulation of a very famous Boss pedal. The first model was developed in the 1977. It produces the typical tube distortion, sweet and with many harmonics. For a '70s sound it is a good choice.
- NATURAL
An Overdrive with a natural sound.
- BOOST
It has been planned to work in conjunction with a COSM amp.
COMP/FX (Compressor/Effects)
- SOLO
It works in conjunction with OD/DS and PREAMP modules, and it has been thought specifically for the solos.
- Hum > Single
It reproduces the response of a single-coil while playing an humbucker.
- Single > Hum
The contrary of the previous effect.
- DEFRETTER
It emulates a fretless guitar.
- SLOW GEAR
The sound of a violin.
- T.WAH (DOWN and UP)
It produces a Wah that depends on the intensity of picking.
- COMP
2 functions: more sustain, without distortion, and also a limiter.
Final opinion
The effects are not all excellent, but at this price we cannot ask the moon. All the controls are immediate and adequate also for a deep setting. My opinion is that the ME-70 is worth how much it costs, but it is a good product, if we consider the price, rather cheap.
