Boss DD-7 Effects Pedal : Review

DD-7

Main features

Up to 40 seconds of loop (in Hold Mode). There are 5 different modes, a total flexibility for the connections and the possibility to control parameters using an optional expression pedal (Roland EV-5). More, the possibility to set the Delay Time in realtime using an optional footswitch (FS-5U) or the built-in pedal.

E. Level

The volume of the effect. The original signal must be adjusted directly from the guitar.

Feedback

The number of the repetitions.

D. Time

Simply, the length of the Delay.

Mode

  • Normal
  • You can set 4 values: 3200, 800, 200 and 50 ms.

  • Modulate
  • It produces an effect similar to the Chorus by adding some undulations to the repetitions.

  • Analog
  • Certainly, interesting and valid. My personal opinion is that this is an excellent Delay. Much similar, in the body, to the Boss DM-2 sound.

  • Reverse
  • Much particular. Substantially it is a tape reproduced in reverse.

  • Hold
  • It plays repeatedly a recording up to 40 seconds.

Final opinion

Certainly, a good product. The warm tone of the Analog mode is beautiful, but also the digital versions are very valid. A good overall flexibility, also as regards the possible connections, so the DD-7 can be used with many different genres. The price is proportional to the value of the pedal.

    RP355

With the 6 knobs on the front panel settings are easy and fast. The manual is complete and exhaustive about all the functions of the floorboard, but there are no information for the update of the firmware.

    Competition Distort

Simple, intuitive, classical and also cheap, but with a surprising sensibility to the dynamics on the strings, and with an evident Vintage character. It delivers a remarkable output Gain and can be used to boost a solid state amp.

  • RC-300
  • Loop | Boss
    RC-300

Compared with the RC-50, the front panel is more simple, less confused. All the elements are arranged in an intuitive order and everything is clear and immediate. The level of each track can be regulated with a fader. XLR with Phantom Power.
