Alesis iO Dock iPad Multi-track Recorder : Review

iO Dock iPad

Designed for the iPad

Thanks to this device the Apple tablet can be used to create and perform music by connecting any instrument to virtually any app in the App Store. Anyone can take advantage of the powerful iPad processor and its touch-screen interface.

The complete connectivity

It provides a complete set of possible connections for your instruments, with all the necessary to use pro audio gear, like the phantom power for condenser microphones or dedicated gain levels.

Inputs

  • 2 x XLR-1/4" Balanced TRS
  • Each input provides its own gain level control and the phantom power for condenser microphones. In addition it features a guitar-direct switch that can be used to connect the iO Dock directly with amplifiers, effects processors, digital recorders and so on.

Outputs

Each output features an independent volume control.

  • 2 x 1/4" Balanced TRS
  • 1/4" TRS (Headphone)
  • It features a direct-monitor switch that can be used to toggle between the incoming and playback signal.

  • RCA Composite
  • To connect the iO Dock to TVs, projectors or computer monitor.

General opinion

Very valid and at a good price. The only limit is that it works only with the power supply, and not with batteries.
