Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Twin Reverb Amp : Review

Fender '65 Twin Reverb Reissue

Front Panel

It features separate controls for each channel and the knobs to modify Reverb level and Vibrato parameters. In addition, it provides a bright switch and four guitar inputs.

Inputs 1 and 2

The two 1 provide +6db gain more than the 2.

Bright

Both channels feature a Bright switch, which boosts the high-frequency range. It is particularly effective at lower volume settings.

Treble, Middle, Bass

It features a separate equalization section.

Reverb

The level.

Vibrato

It provides two controls for the parameters.

Speed

It adjusts the rate. If the footswitch is not plugged in, the Vibrato will not function. The footswitch is optional, but if you want to use all the functions of the '65 Twin Reverb, you have to buy it.

Intensity

Like its name suggests, it adjusts the intensity.

Rear Panel

Power

On/Off.

Standby

Use this switch during your breaks, and not the Power. This will prolong tubes life.

Main Speaker

This is the jack for the onboard speakers.

External

The jack to connect an external speaker.

Footswitch

The optional footswitch, but necessary for the Vibrato, must be connected to this jack.

It doesn't disappoint

The '65 Twin Reverb is a legend and this Reissue doesn't disappoint. Warm, fat and absolutely smooth. Much smooth. The two Jensen C-12K make a great job, this is sure, but not only. Fender worked very much to preserve the original circuitry and the effect is amazing.

Conclusions

The '65 Twin Reverb provides the clean and the Reverb that made Fender amps famous in the world. The cost, approximately 1350 Euros is a great price.

If we consider the low price and all the characteristics, it is a good choice. It doesn't sound like a tube model, obviously, but tone is good. Rather flexible.
