Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 Enclosure Amp : Review

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 Enclosure

Three different versions

This Cabinet wasn't designed only to be an additional speaker for the combos of the Hot Rod series, but also to add more bass response and an extra volume. At the moment the production has been discontinued and it is rather rare on the second-hand market. It is equipped with a 12" Celestion and allows an output up to 80 Watts at 8 Ohms. The cable and a black nylon cover are included. It is available in three colors: black, Lacquered Tweed and Tweed.

The speaker

It features a 12" Celestion G12P-80. The qualities of this speaker are well known. Definite and open, above all with the clean sounds, but, we have to say, with some limits with distortions.

A good product, but with some limits

Lights and shadows

As we have said at the beginning of this review, the Deluxe 112 Enclosure isn't only an additional speaker. This Cabinet, designed to be matched with the combos of the Hot Rod series, but suitable to every amp, obviously, adds more bass response and an extra volume. In a clean context the final result is excellent, but with distortions it can disappoint. In some situations it is too much harsh, without a soul, but perhaps it depends on the pickups.

Conclusions

Like we have said, it was discontinued, but can be found in some shops. The price, approximately 350 Euros, is not cheap, but the 12" Celestion G12P-80 is a great speaker. If you own a Deluxe, this cabinet can be a perfect complement. It comes in various colours.

One channel and no effect, but a fabulous sound for this reissue of a legendary Marshall amp. Obviously, it has been designed for the distortions, so it expresses its qualities at high volume.

    Band Master VM

An hybrid with a good flexibility and an interesting price. 3 quality digital effects and a good distortion.

  • Marshall

A 100-Watt head that features 4 ECC83 valves for the pre section and 4 KT66 for the power amp. The front panel includes a switch to boost middle, for a more fat sound, and a digital reverb.
