This Alesis product can use hard disks of various types, IDE/EIDE/ATA at 5,400/7,200/10,000 RPM. The user can edit tracks internally to the recorder or he can transfer all the recorded material to the PC.

Each input provides a dedicated control for the gain and the Phantom Power for condenser microphones. The only limit of the iO Dock is that this Alesis device works only with the power supply, and not with batteries.

The BR-1200CD cannot be considered a modern Boss multitrack recorder but it provides all the necessary for a professional job: a good multi-effects, a complete drum machine and a CD-RW.

The MR-8MkII provides eight tracks for the playback and for the recording, with two tracks for the simultaneous recording. Two XLR balanced inputs, with phantom power and two 1/4" inputs for the guitar. A multi-effect and a speaker emulator.

The MR-8HD is a quality multitrack recorder, with eight tracks for the simultaneous playback, four tracks for the simultaneous recording, a built-in multi-effect and a 40GB hard disk, but the price is excessive.

The MR16HD is a good multitrack recorder with all the necessary functions for a professional recording and a complete front panel for an immediate access to the recorder functions. The four inputs provide a useful Trim control.

The 2488neo is a new 24-track recorder by Tascam. This digital studio provides all the necessary for a professional job: a complete effects section, a good mixer with 45mm faders and eight inputs, XLR and 1/4.

The DP-02 is a very famous multitrack recorder, thanks to its philosophy: all is direct and immediate. The front panel provides various controls, knobs and faders for each function. Eight tracks and two XLR/Jack inputs with Phantom power.

My opinion is that this Tascam multitrack recorder costs too much. The DP-03 is an 8-track recorder but it can record only two tracks at a time and it is not comparable to other recorders with the same price.

The AW2400 is a multitrack recorder with all the necessary for a professional job. High audio quality, really a great flexibility with many inputs and outputs, a complete automated mixer.

The AW2816 is a professional multitrack recorder with eight physical inputs, 2 XLR inputs and 6 TRS inputs and a great built-in mixer, with motorized faders and quality converters. An excellent Yamaha device.

The AW4416 is a great digital recorder with many professional features, an excellent audio quality and a complete mixer. Yamaha discontinued the AW4416, so you can buy it at an excellent price.

The MD8 can record eight tracks simultaneously, with good audio qualities. This multitrack digital recorder is very fast and easy to use. The front panel provides many dedicated buttons for all the functions.

The Zoom HD8 is equipped with a large 80GB hard disk, so this digital recorder can store up to 240 hours of audio. Two tracks for the recording and eight tracks for the playback, more two tracks for the drum & bass machine.

The R16 is really a good Zoom product. This digital multitrack recorder can be a recorder, an audio interface, an advanced controller. Eight tracks for the simultaneous recording and 16 tracks for the simultaneous playback.

The R24 can be also a controller for a recording software, like Cubase or Logic. Each parameter or function of the software can be controlled with the R24 faders. Excellent audio quality and a great flexibility.

The R8 is four devices in one. This Zoom product is a recorder, a sampler, a controller and an audio interface. In addition, the R8 provides a valid rhythm machine, a metronome and a tuner. Compact and complete.
