Review

The 125th anniversary

Ramirez, that is one of the most important classical guitars builders, made two guitars to celebrate its 125th anniversary. The first model, of the Professional series, is absolutely inaccessible with its very high price, approximately 25.000 Euros. So, Amalia Ramirez decided to produce a more affordable model for the 125th anniversary of the company: the 125th AM, that belongs to the Studio series. A peculiarity of this instrument is that it will be produced only for five years: from January 2007 to December 2011. This is the classical guitar of our review.

Features

The 125th AM features the traditional look of the Studio series, but with some small details that are particular of this model. For the top Ramirez choosen an excellent Western red Cedar, really well aged, like all the woods of this model, but if you want you can choose a top in German Spruce. Back and sides are in Indian Rosewood, obviously solid. The rosette is exclusive of the 125th AM, with its beautiful design. Ten roses, in green and red, on a black background. Really beautiful and characteristic. Neck is in Cedar, while the fingerboard is in solid Ebony. The scale length is, like always, 650mm.

Sound

It's a Ramirez, woods are all quality woods, well aged, like i said at the beginning of this review, so the 125th AM sounds very well. If you are looking for the typical Ramirez sound, that is the typical Spanish sound, the 125th AM will not disappoint. The sound is very definite, with an excellent volume. The resonant and warm bass and the treble response, very quick, will immediately conquer you.

General opinion

The 125th AM is a real Ramirez. This is sure. This classical guitar sounds very, very well and it is a limited series. Excellent woods, a beautiful finish and, therefore, a great sound. The typical Spanish sound. The price of the 125th AM is, approximately, 1950 Euros, but if you search on Internet you can buy this guitar at a lower price. The 125th AM is a beautiful classical guitar.
