Features
The success of the GS Series testifies the excellent quality of these instruments and the GS7, obviously, doesn't disappoint. Like always, excellent woods, a luxury finish and a great sound. Well, let's see features of this GS7. First of all, this guitar features a beautiful Western Red Cedar for the top. This wood gives a fascinating look to the GS7 but also, certainly, an excellent sound. The body is in a valid Indian Rosewood. Well aged. The excellent neck, really comfortable and flowing, is in Tropical American Mahogany. A classic for Taylor. Ebony, with binding and abalone dots, for the fretboard. The headstock is in Indian Rosewood. Bridge in Ebony. Tuning machines are Taylor, gold-plated. For this GS7 Taylor choosen Elixir strings. The scale length, like always, is 25 1/2" and the Truss-Rod is, obviously, adjustable. The fretboard provides 20 frets and a 15" radius. Finish is gloss. The color of this GS7 is natural but, if you want, the Tobacco option is available. Taylor, with the GS7, provides a quality hard case.
Sound
The GS Series features a bigger body than the Grand Auditorium Series. Also for this reason, the GS7 provides a sound with a great volume, really remarkable, but with the typical roundness and clarity of the Taylor guitars. If you play this instrument, the first thing you will notice is the deep low-end. Beautiful, but not only. The big tone that the Rosewood body creates is paired to the very pleasant warmth of the Top in Western Red Cedar.
General opinion
The GS7 is an extraordinary acoustic guitar. It cannot disappoint. Obviously, we are not speaking about a cheap instrument, but this is normal with Taylor. If you are looking for an high quality acoustic guitar with a remarkable natural volume and a great tone, the Taylor GS7 can be really an excellent choice.
