Boss effects pedals

Perhaps this Boss pedal produces a too much brilliant sound, but the problem can be solved turning counterclockwise the treble control and keeping the lows at the maximum, so to remove the excessive presence of the treble.

The CH-1 features two outputs, therefore it can be used in mono or stereo configuration. When it is in stereo configuration, the CH-1 uses the output A for the sound of the effect and the output B for the direct sound.

The Boss DD-20 Giga Delay is a great Delay. The sound produced from this machine is an high quality sound and the flexibility is the Top. A lot of controls and ready to use delays help to obtain easily the best result.

Perhaps the DS-1 will be suitable to a beginner that doesn't know a good distortion. Nothing more. Yes, the DS-1 is a cheap pedal. But the sound produced from this Boss pedal is ugly and unnatural.

Two different types of Turbo Distortion. The first produces a warm and mellow distortion with a rather linear frequency response. The second provides a sharp distortion, perfect for solos.

With the distortion the FDR-1 can work well but only with a moderate value of the Gain. By adding too much Gain the sound turns out too much harsh and digital, but for a classic Rock or for Blues the FDR-1 can be a good solution.

The FBM-1 controls must be used with care since they are interactive, and therefore not so immediate as with other Boss pedals. You need to understand well the functioning of the controls, in order to obtain the sound that you want.

The SD-1 produces a good sound. At the maximum value of the Gain it delivers a valid distortion but the natural aptitude of this Boss pedal is to boost something else, like, for example, another pedal or an amp.

If your amp is solid state and you want a warmer distortion, the BD-2 Blues Driver can be a good solution. With few controls you can obtain a better sound and a good distortion.

The Boss MT-2 Metal Zone is a very famous pedal between guitarists. It is characterised by a great amount of highs and mids, a long sustain and a much saturated sound.

The OS-2 is a good pedal that can provide both distortion and overdrive. The Color knob is very useful to get the best sound. It can mix overdrive and distortion with a good overall result. And the price is excellent.

The OD-3 is really a good Boss product. This Overdrive provides a long sustain and an excellent compression. With the OD-3 the sound of your guitar will turn out bigger and with a great dynamics. The price is good.

The Boss ML-2 Metal Core can make your sound much powerful, with a massive emphasis of lows and a sharp attack. Four controls for this pedal: Level, Low, High and Dist. Obviously, this pedal is only for Metal.

The MD-2 Mega Distortion is a good Boss product. With five controls this pedal turns out much flexible and can provide a wide variety of distortions and a great emphasis of the lower frequencies.

The FZ-5 is a Fuzz that emulates some legendary pedals, the Maestro FZ-1A, the Fuzz Face and the Octavia pedals. The result, it's my opinion, is poor. The sound is digital, unnatural and tinny.

The OD-1 is one of the most famous Boss pedals. This Vintage Overdrive provides only two controls for the sound: Level and Overdrive. It tends a bit to cut lows but the sound is the typical sound of the '70s.

The OD-2 is the successor of the OD-1. This Boss Overdrive provides, compared to the OD-1, a Tone control and a switch, the Turbo ON/OFF. This switch produces two effects. A mild distortion and a powerful and warm distortion.

The DN-2, with the Dyna Amp technology, is an Overdrive pedal that reacts to the picking intensity and can really create a different sound depending on the strength that you exercise on the strings. The sound quality is good.

The ST-2 Power Stack is a flexible and powerful Boss pedal. The Sound control and a 2-band equalization section provide a wide range of tones that can go from a Vintage crunch to an high gain distortion.

The BC-2 is a valid product. It works well and turns out much flexible, thanks to the Sound knob, the heart of this stompbox, in conjunction with the section of the equalization.

The BF-3, thanks to two new modes (Ultra and Gate/Pan) create a stereo flanger sound with an incredible depth. Independent guitar and bass inputs. Stereo outputs.

The new DSP designed by Boss makes an great job. Effects produced from this jewel are much pleasant and natural. Boss has made a beautiful floorboard for your guitar. The GT-10 can be a good purchase.

The GT-8 is a powerful multi-effect that provides a quality sound and a total flexibility. Moreover, the GT-8 is a complete speaker emulator, with 46 emulated amps and all the necessary to control them.

The ME-70, if we consider the good price, is a valid multi-effect with, in addition, a speaker emulator (COSM Technology). All controls are immediate for a deep setting of the effects. The preamp section is complete.

The ME-50, at an excellent price, includes all the necessary for your guitar. Each effect section provides a dedicated knob for each parameter. Finding the best effect for your sound is easy and fast.

With the ME-25 Boss made a good job. At a low price, you can get a good multi-effect, a personal recording studio, a free software to edit and save your patches, and the recording software Cakewalk Sonar 8.5 LE.

The ME-20 is a good Boss multi-effects unit optimized for live performance. Its added value is the simplicity. Simply, select an effect and tweak it with the realtime knobs. In addition, the ME-20 features the EZ Edit and an Auto-Tuner.

The GT-6 has been discontinued, but its price is rather high. Yes, the GT-6 was a professional unit, with 24-bit converters, the COSM Technology and a digital output. Wah is very good, while distortions are only appreciable.

Boss interrupted the production of the GT-5 for the GT-6, but this floorboard can be an excellent solution for the beginner that wants a quality multi-effects at a good price. 28 different effects and 250 patches.

Boss discontinued the GT-3, but this floorboard can be, at a low price, a valid solution for the beginner. 340 patches and the COSM technology, with the addition of the Send & Return, make the GT-3 modern and flexible.

Compared with the GT-10 the GT-100 introduces a new version of the COSM technology, a new front panel with two displays and 8 knobs for the regulation of all the parameters, and a new function, called A/B Channel Divide.

The RC-2 Loop Station is a complete machine with all loopers common features more some interesting functions, such as the Rhythm Guide and the Loop Quantize. Price is excellent and Boss is a certitude.

The RC-20XL is a complete Loop Station. This Boss looper provides many interesting and usefull functions, and it can be used for many different purposes. Controls are clear and immediate in the use.

The RC-50 is a complete Loop Station, with a good audio quality and many interesting functions, like three simultaneous channels for phrases. Unfortunately Boss, for the moment, didn't solve the synchronization problem.

The RC-3 is a modern looper with all the necessary for the guitarist. The internal memory, much capacious, allows a great recording time: three hours. For a compact looper, an excellent result. In addition, a great flexibility.

An excellent device. We can consider the Boss RC-30 a 2-track version of the RC-3. In addition, a valid multieffects, a rhythm guide and an XLR input, with Phantom Power, for a condenser microphone. A good looper.

The RC-300 can record up to three hours, while the RC-50 up to 49 minutes. The RC-300 provides 16 effects that are optimized for looping (Flanger, Phaser, Modulator, vocal effects and other effects).

The Boss FRV-1 Fender '63 Reverb is a compact pedal with only three controls: Mixer, Tone and Dwell. These are the same controls of the Fender '63 Reverb.

In the Boss RV-5 manual there are some excellent sample settings, so to use this pedal in a moment. But few controls and 6 ready to use reverbs allow an immediate result.

The TR-2 reproduces a classic Vintage effect: the Tremolo of a '60s amp. This Boss pedal works with a low frequency oscillator. The oscillator can be adjusted by the user. The TR-2 provides three controls: Rate, Wave and Depth.
